Letting Go, Listening In
Originally written October 12, 2023
Reflections on a tree, grief, and nature’s lessons.
I walk by the same tree every day. Last week, it was a vibrant red with sparkles of orange.
I stopped to take a picture as the fall sunshine glittered down through the leaves.
Today, its leaves lay scattered by the trunk, all fallen from the tree.
Dropped by the branches as if it were no big deal.
Perhaps, it is no big deal.
Nature is always teaching us.
The impermanence of everything.
Nothing stays the same.
Everything changes.
Beauty is here but for a second.
Before the next season.
The next cycle.
The next life begins.
And this one ends.
Everything ends.
And then, starts again.
Nature is always teaching us.
It is we who refuse to listen.
